HAMMOND, La. — In an impressive season opener, Sam Hines Jr. led the Southeastern Louisiana Lions to a decisive 91-53 win against William Carey on Monday night.
Hines Jr. put on a stellar performance, scoring 21 points to help his team dominate the game. Jakevion Buckley also made a significant contribution, finishing with 18 points and showcasing his accuracy by sinking 5 of 9 shots from the field and 8 of 9 free throws. Along with his scoring, Buckley provided five assists, proving to be a key player in facilitating the offense for the Lions. Meanwhile, Kyle Edison had an admirable outing with 15 points, hitting 5 of 8 attempts, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc. He further contributed defensively with six rebounds and three steals.
On the other hand, William Carey’s offense was spearheaded by Cam Brown, who scored 15 points, but his efforts were not enough to keep pace with the Lions’ onslaught.
