JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — In a solid performance, Quimari Peterson scored 19 points to aid East Tennessee State in their decisive 72-51 victory over Newberry on Monday evening.
Peterson made an impact beyond scoring, grabbing six rebounds for the Buccaneers. Jaden Seymour also made significant contributions, netting 17 points with an impressive shooting performance—6 of 10 from the field, including 2 for 4 from 3-point territory, and 3 for 6 from the free-throw line. He rounded out his game with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Karon Boyd had a challenging night, finishing with eight points on 3 for 11 shooting, which included a disappointing 1 for 6 from long-range. However, he contributed well on the boards with another six rebounds.
On the opposing side, Malik Joseph topped the scoring for the Wolves with 13 points. Janyle Pittman provided valuable support with eight points, along with four assists and four steals. Additionally, Drake Downs also chipped in with eight points for Newberry.
Overall, the game showcased East Tennessee State’s offensive depth and solid defensive plays, leading to a comfortable win.
