RICHMOND, Va. — In their season opener, VCU delivered a strong performance, overcoming Bellarmine with a commanding score of 84-65, fueled by Max Shulga’s impressive 19-point contribution.
Shulga also recorded five rebounds and five assists, playing a crucial role for the Rams throughout the game. Supporting him was Joe Bamisile, who netted 18 points after hitting 8 of his 14 attempts from the field, including 2 of 7 from three-point territory.
Additionally, Phillip Russell added to the scoring effort, contributing 16 points by shooting 5 for 10 from the floor, with a notable 5 of 9 from long distance.
On the other side, Bellarmine’s offense saw Dezmond McKinney and Ben Johnson each score 15 points, while Jack Karasinski chipped in with 11 points.
Overall, VCU demonstrated their capabilities, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season with this victory.
