The Chicago Cubs have added left-handed pitcher Rob Zastryzny to their roster after claiming him off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.
Zastryzny, 32, had an impressive season with the Brewers, posting a remarkable 1.17 ERA across nine games, including three starts, while also spending some time in Triple-A Nashville.
Originally drafted by the Cubs as a second-round selection in 2013, Zastryzny played for Chicago from 2016 to 2018, during which he recorded a 4.41 ERA in 18 games.
In total, he has a record of 4-0 and a 4.30 ERA throughout his career, spanning 54 games and five starts, including time with teams such as the New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Milwaukee Brewers.
On the same day, the Cubs designated reliever Jimmy Herget for assignment. The 31-year-old right-hander was picked up off waivers from Atlanta in mid-September and had made four appearances for Triple-A Iowa since joining the team.
Herget has compiled a career ERA of 3.54 in 129 appearances over his six-season tenure with the Cincinnati Reds, Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels, and Atlanta Braves.
