SEOUL, South Korea — The military of South Korea reported that it identified North Korea launching a ballistic missile into its eastern waters, reflecting the North’s ongoing series of arms tests as the United States approaches its presidential elections.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff in South Korea did not disclose specifics regarding the type of missile launched or the distance it traveled during this event.
This missile test occurred shortly after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw a flight test of a newly developed intercontinental ballistic missile, which is intended to target the mainland of the United States.
