Ole Miss top running back Henry Parrish Jr. sidelined due to injury

OXFORD, Miss. — Mississippi running back Henry Parrish Jr. will not be included in the depth chart for the upcoming game against the second-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, following a painful left leg injury he sustained during the Rebels’ recent victory over Arkansas. The team indicated that either Ulysses Bentley IV, Matt Jones, or Domonique Thomas is expected to take on the starting role this Saturday.

Head coach Lane Kiffin confirmed Parrish’s absence when he addressed the media on Sunday, stating, “Yeah, he’s out. That’s all I’ve got.” However, Kiffin did not provide any further updates on the extent of the injury that has sidelined the former Miami player.

As a significant contributor, Parrish ranks sixth in the Southeastern Conference, boasting 678 rushing yards along with ten touchdowns this season. Kiffin expressed his concern over the loss, emphasizing the need for other players to rise to the occasion. “That’s a big loss for us. He’d done well for us this year with the ball and in protection,” he stated on Monday. He noted that “teams face adversity,” and now the running back unit must confront this challenge.

In Parrish’s place, Thomas, who transferred from Georgia State, had the chance to showcase his skills against Arkansas, where he carried the ball ten times for 41 yards. Overall, Thomas has compiled 131 rushing yards and one touchdown this season. Meanwhile, Jones has made significant contributions with 222 rushing yards and three touchdowns, and Bentley has added 185 yards and one touchdown to the team’s tally.
