ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Tyler Bass successfully executed a career-long 61-yard field goal with just five seconds remaining, while Josh Allen launched three touchdown passes in the second half, leading the Buffalo Bills to a thrilling 30-27 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The matchup showcased a dynamic exchange as both teams fought hard, trading leads four times during a gripping second half filled with seven consecutive scoring drives—four from Buffalo (7-2) and three from Miami (2-6).

Buoyed by their strong performance, the Bills are now 7-2 for the first time since 2020, creating a commanding four-game lead over the New York Jets in the AFC East standings, a division they have consistently dominated over the past four years. Buffalo completed a sweep over Miami this season, marking their sixth consecutive victory against the Dolphins and allowing them to claim 13 wins in their last 14 meetings, including playoffs. Furthermore, the Dolphins have been unable to win in Buffalo for nine straight encounters, a streak beginning on December 24, 2016.

The loss significantly impacted Miami’s playoff aspirations, as they have now dropped three consecutive games, two of which occurred after quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s return from a concussion that had kept him sidelined for four weeks. Despite the defeat, Tagovailoa demonstrated solid performance stats, completing 25 of 28 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Allen finished the game with 25 completions on 39 attempts for 235 yards, one interception, and three touchdowns.

As the game drew to a close, Buffalo’s final drive stalled out at Miami’s 43-yard line after a spike followed by two incomplete passes. Coach Sean McDermott made the bold decision to trust Bass, who had previously missed an extra point in the match. With the game’s outcome hanging in the balance, Bass not only made the kick but also sent it flying far enough to clear the end zone and reach the first row of fans. This remarkable kick stands as the longest field goal in the history of the franchise.

The Bills’ victory not only solidifies their position at the top of the AFC East but also reflects their continued excellence against a divisional rival and extends their dominance in the rivalry matchup.
