BERLIN — Tim Kleindienst was a key player in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s impressive 4-1 victory against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
Kleindienst contributed to all goals scored by Gladbach, helping the team bounce back from their recent defeat in the German Cup against Eintracht Frankfurt, easing the mounting pressure on coach Gerardo Seoane after nine rounds in the league.
This victory was crucial as Gladbach had matched their four wins with four losses in the current season’s league play.

Taking advantage of defensive errors from Bremen, Gladbach quickly built a two-goal lead.
In the 11th minute, Kleindienst capitalized on a poor pass, assisting Alassane Plea, who netted with a deflected shot.
Just a minute later, Kleindienst forced an own goal from Marco Friedl after a wayward kickout from Bremen’s goalkeeper, Michael Zetterer, landed directly at a Gladbach player.

Before halftime, Kleindienst continued to shine by facilitating a counterattack that allowed Franck Honorat to score the third goal, firing the ball into the far corner after a determined run from his own half, chased closely by two defenders.
Although the visitors showed improvement in the second half, Kleindienst provided a cross to Kevin Stöger, who added Gladbach’s fourth goal in the 66th minute.

Werder Bremen managed to score a consolation goal through Keke Topp in the 75th minute; however, the game took a turn when teammate Mitchell Weiser received a second yellow card shortly after, resulting in his dismissal from the match.

In another match earlier in the day, Freiburg missed the opportunity to secure third place after settling for a 0-0 draw against Mainz, extending their unbeaten streak while playing away in the league.
Currently, Bayern Munich leads the league table by a three-point margin.
