UK prosecutors are considering filing charges against Russell Brand related to sexual assault claims.

LONDON — Prosecutors in the UK have received a compilation of evidence from the police regarding alleged sexual offenses involving comedian Russell Brand and are currently deliberating whether to proceed with charges.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced this development on Saturday, stating, “A file has been passed to us by the police for consideration regarding a potential charging decision in this matter. Our decisions related to charges are made independently, based on the evidence provided and in accordance with our legal standards.”
Brand, aged 49, has been interviewed by detectives from the Metropolitan Police on three occasions concerning claims of “non-recent sexual offenses.”
Leading the investigation, Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy stated, “Our investigation remains ongoing, and this file has now been sent to the CPS. We have a dedicated team of officers offering specialized support to the women who have come forward. Our commitment to investigating sexual offenses is unwavering, regardless of how long ago the alleged events occurred.”
In September 2023, several British media outlets, including Channel 4 and the Sunday Times, aired accusations from four different women who alleged they were sexually assaulted or raped by Brand between the years 2006 and 2013, during his peak periods of celebrity. The identities of the accusers have not been disclosed.
Brand, known for his humor and provocative standup performances, has firmly denied these allegations, asserting that all his relationships were “always consensual.”
The comedian, author, and star of “Get Him To The Greek” has a history of hosting various radio and television shows, authoring autobiographies detailing his struggles with substance abuse, and appearing in numerous films in Hollywood. He was also married to pop star Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012.
Although Brand has become less prominent in mainstream media in recent years, he has cultivated a significant online following by producing videos that combine wellness advice with conspiracy theory discussions.
