SACRAMENTO, Calif. — During an exciting game on Saturday night, Dante Chachere showcased his athletic prowess by throwing one touchdown pass while running for four other touchdowns, leading Portland State to a commanding 58-38 victory over Sacramento State.

The turning point of the match came around 4:17 into the third quarter when Delon Thompson powered through for a 1-yard touchdown, putting the Vikings ahead for the rest of the game. Following a quick three-and-out by Sacramento State, Chachere was pressured in the pocket but managed to break free and score a stunning 54-yard touchdown. This play extended Portland State’s lead to 37-24 just under two minutes later.

In addition to his significant runs, Chachere had earlier scored on a 27-yard rush in the first quarter, a 13-yard run in the second, and a 2-yard run in the fourth. He completed the game with 14 completions on 27 attempts, totalling 245 passing yards. Notably, he also connected with Tanner Beaman for an 18-yard touchdown that pushed Portland State ahead 24-21 at the beginning of the third quarter. Following this disappointing game, Sacramento State’s record now stands at 3-6, having lost two consecutive games and four of their last five.

For Sacramento State, Carson Conklin put forth an admirable effort, going 31-of-38 with 314 passing yards and tossing four touchdowns despite one interception. Anderson Grover was the standout receiver, catching eight passes for 134 yards and a touchdown. Jared Gipson contributed with two touchdown receptions.

Additionally, Thompson made a strong impact on the ground, rushing 20 times for a total of 84 yards and two touchdowns. His final scoring run, another 1-yard plunge, sealed the victory for Portland State with just 1:55 remaining, following a clever flea flicker play where Chachere found Brandon Alvarez for a 24-yard gain. Overall, Portland State had a remarkable ground game, racking up 299 rushing yards and scoring a total of seven touchdowns, with an impressive 41 points being scored in the second half alone.
