Blues defenseman Philip Broberg exits matchup with Maple Leafs due to lower body injury

ST. LOUIS — During Saturday night’s match against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blues defenseman Philip Broberg exited the game due to a lower body injury sustained in the second period.

The incident occurred at 8:08 into the period when Broberg engaged in a puck battle with Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner. In the ensuing clash, Marner fell onto Broberg’s right leg, causing him to struggle to place any weight on it as he was assisted off the ice and into the Blues’ locker room.

Shortly afterward, the team confirmed that Broberg would not be returning to the game.

Broberg, who joined St. Louis as a restricted free agent during the offseason, signed a two-year contract worth $9.16 million. This deal resulted in the Blues forfeiting a second-round draft pick in 2025 after the Edmonton Oilers opted not to match St. Louis’ offer sheet.

Before his injury, Broberg was performing notably well, sharing the team lead with Jordan Kyrou by accumulating nine points (two goals and seven assists) over the course of 11 games leading up to the matchup against Toronto.
