SAN DIEGO — Grant Sergent had an impressive performance on Saturday, throwing three touchdown passes, two of which were caught by Ja’seem Reed, as San Diego dominated Davidson with a 40-13 victory.

Sergent completed 19 of his 27 attempts, amassing 307 yards in the air, with Reed being a standout receiver, securing 14 receptions for a substantial 186 yards. With these two touchdown receptions, Reed extended his lead in the Pioneer Football League by bringing his season total to eight. Logan Gingg also contributed significantly to the Toreros’ offense, rushing for 106 yards and scoring a touchdown.

The Toreros showcased their strength in a remarkable second quarter where they scored four touchdowns alongside a field goal. This explosive quarter included a notable 73-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Jerry Riggins, as well as all three of Sergent’s touchdown passes. By the time halftime rolled around, San Diego was comfortably leading 37-13. Aidan Lehman capped off the scoring in the game with a 46-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, marking the only points scored in the second half.

Davidson managed to find the end zone with a 9-yard touchdown run from Sam Valor in the first quarter and a 32-yard run by Luke Durkin during the second quarter. Valor was a key player for Davidson, leading the team in rushing with 77 yards, contributing to a total of 228 yards on the ground for the Wildcats. However, their aerial attack struggled, finishing the game with only 36 passing yards.

These results leave San Diego with a record of 5-3 and 3-2 within their conference, while Davidson holds a record of 5-4 and 3-3 in the same league.
