CHENEY, Wash. — Montana State emerged victorious against Eastern Washington with a score of 42-28, thanks to Tommy Mellott’s impressive performance in the second half.
Mellott delivered a remarkable 76-yard run right after the Eagles tied the game, putting the Bobcats back in front at 35-28.
Despite the Eagles’ attempts to respond, they faced a setback when a successful fake punt was nullified, and after an interception on the Montana State 32-yard line, they failed to convert on four downs midway through the fourth quarter.

To seal the game, Mellott threw a 61-yard touchdown pass to Ty McCullouch.
Overall, Mellott completed 13 of 20 passes for 181 yards and threw for two touchdowns, all while battling windy and rainy weather.
He also showcased his running ability, gaining 125 yards on six carries.
Additionally, Scottre Humphrey contributed significantly to the offense with 21 rushes for 110 yards and two touchdowns, which helped the Bobcats (9-0, 5-0 Big Sky Conference) establish a solid 28-14 lead at halftime.

Eastern Washington (2-7, 1-4) rallied in the third quarter with two back-to-back drives, amassing a total of 139 yards.
Each of these drives ended with touchdowns from Tuna Altahir—one on the ground and another through the air—tying the game at 28.
Jared Taylor, the Eagles’ quarterback, completed 20 of 37 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw one interception.
Michael Worth made an impact with just two carries, totaling 90 yards, which included a spectacular 75-yard touchdown run.
