In a thrilling game held in Smithfield, Rhode Island, the Stony Brook Seawolves emerged victorious over the Bryant Bulldogs with a score of 31-30 on Saturday. The standout player for Stony Brook was Roland Dempster, who rushed for 103 yards and notched two touchdowns, one of which came during overtime.

Stony Brook, currently ranked 20th in the FCS, took control of the match early. Quarterback Tyler Knoop connected with Jayce Freeman for a stunning 40-yard touchdown pass, extending their lead to 24-10 with just over nine minutes remaining in the third quarter.

However, the Bulldogs were quick to respond. On their next offensive play, Markiel Cockrell broke through the defense and sprinted 75 yards for a touchdown, closing the gap to 24-17.

As the fourth quarter unfolded, the intensity heightened. Brennan Myer, the Bulldogs’ quarterback, tossed a 19-yard touchdown to Tristen Riley, leveling the score at 24 with 13:32 left on the clock. Dempster then punched in a 2-yard touchdown in overtime, pushing the score to 31-24.

Myer didn’t back down; he connected with Landon Ruggieri for a 25-yard touchdown to make it 31-30. Unfortunately for Bryant, their attempt for an extra point fell short, concluding the game in Stony Brook’s favor. The Seawolves have shown significant improvement, bouncing back after a winless season last year to secure their seventh victory in the last eight games.

On the day, Myer had an impressive performance, totaling 338 passing yards and three touchdowns for Bryant. With this win, Stony Brook now leads the historical matchup against Bryant, with a series record of 5-1.
