ALBANY, N.Y. — In a commanding performance, Seth Morgan passed for 208 yards and secured three touchdowns, which included a stunning 86-yard connection to Caleb Burke, as New Hampshire decisively triumphed over Albany with a score of 31-14 on Saturday.
Albany initiated the game with the first possession but struggled to sustain momentum, ultimately punting after just six plays. On their first offensive series, the Wildcats wasted no time as Morgan found Burke with a significant pass.
After exchanges of punts on subsequent drives, New Hampshire’s defensive back Wande Owens made a game-changing play by intercepting a pass from Myles Burkett and returning it for a 50-yard touchdown, giving the Wildcats a solid two-touchdown advantage at 1:59 in the first quarter. The Great Danes could not recover and were forced to go three-and-out on their next series. Meanwhile, New Hampshire continued to build on their lead, with Morgan completing a 12-yard touchdown throw to Logan Tomlinson to push the score to 21-0 with 13:32 remaining in the second quarter. Nick Mazzie capped off the scoring in the first half with a 40-yard field goal.
Albany made strides to avoid a complete defeat when Trey Lindsey charged in from the one-yard line, capping off a lengthy 15-play, 88-yard drive that consumed 5:15 of the game clock, bringing the score to 24-8 after successfully converting a two-point attempt.
In response, New Hampshire executed a calculated drive, with Morgan completing a 3-yard pass to Colby Ramshaw that culminated a 13-play, 70-yard series lasting over seven minutes. Lindsey, who alternated playing quarterback with Burkett, ended the day with 117 yards through the air and added 58 yards on the ground from 10 carries, including one touchdown.
