De’Aaron Fox guides Kings to 123-115 victory against depleted Hawks

ATLANTA — De’Aaron Fox shone with a season-best 31 points, leading the Sacramento Kings to a 123-115 victory over the struggling Atlanta Hawks, marking their third consecutive win.

DeMar DeRozan contributed 27 points, extending his impressive run to five straight games scoring over 20 points since joining the Kings in the off-season. Domantas Sabonis added 15 points and secured 14 rebounds, but he fouled out, achieving his fourth double-double in just five games.

The Hawks had Trae Young at the forefront, who recorded 25 points and dished out 12 assists. Garrison Mathews stepped up off the bench, knocking down a career-high seven three-pointers, contributing a total of 23 points.

The Hawks were missing several key players, including starters De’Andre Hunter and Dyson Daniels, alongside rotational contributors Bogdan Bogdanovic, Vit Krejci, and Kobe Bufkin, all sidelined due to injuries.

In terms of rebounding, the Kings dominated, finishing with a 50-41 edge, and maintained their lead for the last 47 minutes of the match.

**Observations**

For the Kings, while they maintained control for much of the game, they were unable to completely lock in the victory until the very end. Their road trip is off to a strong start at 2-0.

On the other hand, despite their roster challenges, the Hawks showed a competitive spirit, performing better than in their previous defeats to the Wizards. Mathews’ stellar shooting from beyond the arc could secure him a permanent spot in the starting lineup, especially with the team’s current roster shortages.

**Turnover Point**

With 5:52 left on the clock, Young evened the score by making a long 2-pointer; however, the Kings quickly responded with a 6-0 run to regain their lead. Fox contributed four points during this span, and DeRozan added a difficult shot from the perimeter.

**Noteworthy Stat**

Zaccharie Risacher, the overall No. 1 draft pick, made his first attempt of the game with a corner three-pointer but then missed his next eight attempts. Currently, he holds a shooting percentage of 31.6% for the season, including a 22.2% success rate from three-point range.

**Looking Ahead**

Next up for the Kings is their third game of the four-game road stretch, facing the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night. The Hawks will be heading to New Orleans for a matchup on Sunday night.
