The Milwaukee Brewers have made a significant decision regarding their roster, as they have opted not to exercise the $12 million mutual option for pitcher Wade Miley for the 2025 season. As a result, the seasoned left-handed pitcher has officially entered free agency but will still receive a buyout payment of $1.5 million.
Miley, who is approaching his 38th birthday on November 13, had a challenging 2024 season where he was limited to just two starts after undergoing Tommy John surgery. His performance during that time was difficult, with a record of 0-1 and a high ERA of 6.43. However, his 2023 season showcased a much better level of play, where he achieved a record of 9-4 with an impressive 3.14 ERA across 23 starts.
In his career, Wade Miley has compiled a record of 108 wins and 99 losses, along with a career ERA of 4.07 and a total of 1,361 strikeouts over the span of 1,745 and a third innings pitched. Since making his major league debut in 2011, he has played for several teams including the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2011 to 2014, the Boston Red Sox in 2015, as well as the Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles, Brewers, Houston Astros, Cincinnati Reds, and Chicago Cubs. This extensive experience reflects Miley’s resilience and skill throughout his time in professional baseball.
