OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson did not practice Thursday during the time that reporters were allowed to watch.
The two-time NFL MVP was also absent from Wednesday’s practice sessions. The team indicated that he is dealing with issues related to his back and knee, although there were no visible concerns regarding his health during the Ravens’ recent defeat against Cleveland.
Baltimore is set to play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, and in Jackson’s absence, veteran quarterback Josh Johnson will serve as the backup.
Since the onset of the 2023 season, Jackson has only missed one game, which occurred in the last week of the regular season when it had little bearing on Baltimore’s playoff positioning.
Currently, Jackson is experiencing one of the most successful starts to his career, boasting an impressive passer rating of 115.4. He has accumulated 2,099 yards passing and thrown for 17 touchdowns, while only giving up two interceptions. Additionally, he has registered 501 rushing yards this season.
