NEW YORK — Approximately 60,000 Wawa-branded tumblers are being recalled due to safety concerns involving their metal straws, which present a laceration risk.
On Thursday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a notice indicating that the straws in these tumblers have the potential to cause cuts to users’ mouths or fingers. To date, there have been four reported injuries associated with this issue.
The Commission strongly advises consumers to refrain from using these metal straws and to reach out to Illinois-based Halo Branding Solutions, the distributor of the tumblers, for a silicone replacement option. Additionally, customers who wish to return their tumblers can receive a $15 refund in the form of a gift card.
It is important for affected consumers to avoid returning these items to Wawa locations, as noted in Thursday’s announcement. Complete details for participating in the recall are available on Halo’s website.
These recalled tumblers were sold exclusively at Wawa stores in various states, including Alabama, Washington D.C., Delaware, Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland during August of this year. The tumblers, which hold 24 ounces, were offered in four different styles.
Further comments from both Wawa and Halo were sought on Thursday regarding this recall.
