LISBON, Portugal — Rúben Amorim, a candidate for the managerial position at Manchester United, has indicated that he will address his future coaching ambitions following Sporting Lisbon’s Portuguese league match on Friday night.
In a press conference on Thursday, Amorim discussed his team’s upcoming game against Estrela da Amadora, highlighting that Sporting has kicked off their title defense impressively with nine consecutive victories.
“We will finalize our decision after tomorrow’s match. It will be clearly defined, so we just have to wait one more day,” Amorim stated.
The 39-year-old manager has attracted significant attention, thanks to his rising profile and the achievement of securing two Portuguese league titles within four seasons, piquing the interest of Manchester United after the club dismissed Erik ten Hag on Monday amid a disappointing 14th place in the English Premier League standings.
Subsequent to this, Sporting Lisbon disclosed to the Lisbon Stock Exchange that Manchester United is reportedly willing to activate the 10 million euros (approximately $10.8 million) release clause in Amorim’s contract.
