World Series Game 4 draws 16.28 million viewers, marking the highest ratings since 2019

LOS ANGELES — The World Series reached a significant milestone in viewership as the New York Yankees narrowly escaped a sweep on Tuesday night. The Yankees triumphed over the Los Angeles Dodgers with an 11-4 win in Game 4, attracting an average of 16.28 million viewers on Fox, Fox Deportes, and various streaming platforms, according to Nielsen reports. This was the highest viewership for a World Series game since 2019, when Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros brought in 23.22 million viewers.

Furthermore, it was the most-watched Game 4 since the thrilling 2016 series that included the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians, which garnered 16.71 million viewers. Fox is optimistic about achieving similar audience growth for the fifth game on Wednesday, reminiscent of eight years ago when the audience swelled by seven million to reach 23.64 million for Game 5.

The peak viewership for Tuesday’s game hit 18.22 million from 10:00 to 10:15 PM EDT, which marks a remarkable 92% increase compared to last year’s Game 4, where 8.48 million viewers tuned in to watch the Texas Rangers face off against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Overall, the World Series has seen an average viewership of 14.98 million across the first four games, marking its highest average in seven years.

In terms of local ratings, Tuesday’s game received a 19.7 rating and 54 share in Los Angeles, while garnering a 12.8 rating and 33 share in New York. Ratings reflect the percentage of television households that were tuned in, while the share indicates the percentage of viewers watching at that specific time.
