Louisiana-Lafayette (7-1, 4-0) remains the sole undefeated team within the Sun Belt Conference.

Washington made an impressive play by breaking away for a 64-yard touchdown in the dying moments of the first quarter, putting the Ragin’ Cajuns ahead 7-6. They further extended their lead to 14-6 with just over a minute left in the first half when Wooldridge connected with tight end Caden Jensen for a short 1-yard touchdown reception in the back of the end zone.

As the game progressed, Kenneth Almendares successfully kicked a 42-yard field goal with 4:59 left in the third quarter, ensuring that Louisiana-Lafayette would hold the lead at 17-14. The Ragin’ Cajun defense came up big, with linebacker Jaden Dugger forcing a fumble that was recovered by Amir McDaniel near the midfield line with 3:38 on the clock.

Almendares then added kicking success with field goals from 24 and 44 yards during the fourth quarter.

The clinching moment for the Ragin’ Cajuns came when Tyrone Lewis Jr. intercepted a tipped pass with 3:29 remaining in the game.

Texas State (4-4, 2-2) aimed to achieve its first 3-1 start in the Sun Belt since 2014.

For Texas State, quarterback RJ Martinez completed 11 of 14 passes for 113 yards but was intercepted once. Jordan McCloud recorded 12 of 18 for 88 yards, while Ismail Mahdi contributed significantly with 82 rushing yards and a touchdown.
