MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — In a remarkable act of bravery, a police officer in central Michigan rescued a woman from a burning vehicle, an incident captured on his body camera.

The footage released by the Mount Pleasant police depicts the officer using a substantial tool to break through the windshield of the car, which was engulfed in flames after being overturned late Sunday evening.

As the situation unfolded, a leg was seen protruding from the shattered glass, prompting the officer to pull a 22-year-old woman from the Detroit area out of the burning car. The names of both individuals involved in the rescue have not been disclosed.

Concerned for the possibility of others being trapped inside, the officer inquired, “Who else is in there?” The woman could only respond, “I don’t know,” demonstrating the chaotic nature of the incident.

The officer, surprised to hear the uncertainty, asked further, “You don’t know who’s in the car?” Fortunately, it was determined there were no other occupants in the vehicle. The compelling video has been circulated widely on social media platforms.

Community members expressed their gratitude toward the emergency responders, with one user, Rachael Thayer, remarking on Facebook how thankful she was for their efforts, praising the officer for successfully leading the woman to safety.
