A tram accident occurred in downtown Oslo on Tuesday when it derailed and crashed into a shop specializing in iPhones and computers, according to local authorities. Fortunately, only four individuals sustained minor injuries during the incident.
At the time of the derailment, around 20 passengers were aboard the tram as it came off the tracks at the busy Storgata intersection, a major area in Norway’s capital city.
Photographs captured at the scene revealed significant damage; the front carriage of the tram had forcefully collided with the store.
Among the injured was the tram driver, but police reported that all those affected received on-site medical attention and none of the injuries were considered serious.
The reasons behind the tram’s derailment remain unclear as authorities are still investigating. Police have confirmed they are awaiting the arrival of representatives from the Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority to conduct a thorough examination.
As a precaution, the four-story building housing the shop was evacuated to assess any potential structural damage following the collision.
