SACRAMENTO, Calif. — On Monday night, De’Aaron Fox, a guard for the Kings, achieved a significant milestone by scoring his 10,000th career point, becoming only the fifth player in the franchise’s history to reach this impressive mark.
Fox hit this milestone during his 472nd game, just three contests into his eighth season in the NBA. Heading into the matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers, he needed 17 points to cross the 10,000-point threshold. He sealed the achievement with a 3-pointer at 7:08 left in the third quarter, finishing the game with a total of 18 points. The accomplishment drew a warm standing ovation from the fans in Sacramento, as well as from his teammates, once the news was announced during a timeout.
In the franchise’s history, Fox joins Mitch Richmond, who scored 12,070 points during his time, as the only players to tally 10,000 points in the Sacramento Kings era. Other notable figures who reached this milestone include Oscar Robertson with 22,009 points, Jack Twyman with 15,840 points, and Nate “Tiny” Archibald, who recorded 10,894 points before Fox. The Kings relocated to Sacramento in 1985.
Currently, Fox is also just five games away from surpassing Mike Bibby for the fourth spot on the all-time games played list for the Kings. He ranks fifth in total points, fourth in assists, and fourth in steals in franchise history.
Fox was selected fifth overall in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Kings. Last season, he averaged an impressive 21.5 points and 10.5 assists per game and earned an All-Star selection in 2023.
