A tragic accident occurred in central Mexico, where a bus overturned following a collision with a trailer that had detached from a corn transport truck. This incident resulted in the deaths of 24 individuals and left five others injured, according to local authorities.

The incident took place just after midnight on Friday, as the bus was departing from Tepic, located in the western state of Nayarit, and was heading towards Ciudad Juarez in the northern region of Mexico. The injured passengers were promptly taken to a hospital in Zacatecas for medical attention.

Juan Manríquez Moreno, the National Guard coordinator in Zacatecas, provided a video update via social media. He explained that the truck’s trailer had become detached while traveling along the highway, leading to the bus crashing into it and ultimately tipping onto its right side.

In a separate statement delivered from the accident site, Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza, the Secretary General of the Zacatecas government, expressed condolences and solidarity with the families affected by this tragic event. “We send our solidarity and condolences to all the families and individuals who have lost a loved one in this unfortunate accident,” he stated.

Following the crash, the highway was closed off as officials worked to secure the area. Authorities mentioned that they would soon publish the names of those injured to assist worried family members in locating their loved ones.
