ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — On Friday, Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced that starting linebacker Terrel Bernard, wide receiver Curtis Samuel, and rookie backup defensive tackle DeWayne Carter will not participate in the game against Seattle this weekend.
Bernard is dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered during last week’s convincing 34-10 victory over Tennessee. This setback comes soon after he returned from a pectoral injury that kept him out for two games following Week 2. Prior to his current injury, Bernard was impactful in the game, recording eight tackles and recovering a fumble.
Coach McDermott indicated that Carter’s situation is more serious; he will require surgery for a wrist injury and is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks. The third-round draft pick has seen his role on the team grow, and he recently made a crucial play during the game against the Titans when he tackled running back Tony Pollard for a loss on fourth down. This pivotal moment helped Buffalo secure the lead shortly afterward.
Samuel’s availability remains uncertain as he is out indefinitely due to a pectoral injury acquired on Sunday. His absence leaves the Bills, currently leading the AFC East with a record of 5-2, with only four active receivers for their matchup against the NFC West-leading Seahawks (4-3). This includes Amari Cooper, who was recently traded from Cleveland, as the team’s receiving corps prepares for the game on Sunday.
