Rugby England offers complimentary sanitary products for women across over 500 clubs

England Rugby is taking significant steps to enhance the experience of female players, members, and visitors by supplying sanitary products to over 500 clubs. This initiative reflects a growing recognition that rugby union is no longer solely a male-dominated sport.

On Thursday, the federation announced that this effort is part of a legacy program associated with hosting the upcoming women’s World Cup next year. The goal is to inspire greater participation among women and girls in rugby.

According to a study conducted by Women in Sport, 70% of teenage girls tend to avoid physical activities during their menstrual periods. England Rugby cited this research to highlight that providing sanitary products in clubs ranks among the most effective measures to improve the game for females.

The federation reported that over 300 packages have already been distributed, along with the installation of approximately 1,000 sanitary products across various clubs in England.

England captain Marlie Packer emphasized the importance of these facilities, stating, “Clubs offering these facilities makes rugby more inclusive. Just the simple things like sanitary bins may seem trivial, but they were rarely present in the toilets and changing rooms of clubs.”
