Robert Thomas of the St. Louis Blues sidelined for 6 weeks due to fractured ankle

ST. LOUIS — In a recent announcement, the St. Louis Blues revealed that forward Robert Thomas will be sidelined for a minimum of six weeks due to a fractured right ankle. This injury occurred when he was struck by a puck during the early moments of the third period in the team’s defeat against the unbeaten Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night. Blues general manager Doug Armstrong indicated that Thomas would undergo further evaluations in about six weeks.

This unfortunate news adds to the growing list of player injuries for the Blues, with defenseman Nick Leddy also having been placed on injured reserve earlier this week owing to a lower-body issue. The team has faced challenges this season, starting with a record of 4-3-0, while dealing with the absence of players like Torey Krug, who is out for the entire season following ankle surgery.

In a strategic move, St. Louis recently secured defenseman Jake Neighbours with a two-year contract extension valued at $7.5 million. This deal will see Neighbours count $3.75 million against the team’s salary cap for both the 2025-26 and 2026-27 NHL seasons, indicating the team’s efforts to maintain a competitive roster amidst ongoing injuries.
