INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts have announced that quarterback Anthony Richardson will be active for their upcoming game against the Miami Dolphins this Sunday, after missing the last two games due to a right hip injury.
Head coach Shane Steichen shared on Friday that he anticipates Richardson will return to the starting role, as he participated fully in practice throughout the week. The young quarterback had been sidelined during the previous two games, despite taking part in pregame warmups before kickoff.
In Richardson’s absence, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco stepped in and played the role of starter. Flacco had a significant presence, particularly during the Week 4 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he took over after Richardson’s injury. Over three games, the 39-year-old Flacco led the Colts to two victories.
Drafted as the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Richardson has faced various injuries that have limited his playing time to just eight starts in his young career. Out of those games, he has managed to finish five and has thus far achieved a win-loss record of 4-4.
