CLINTON, S.C. — In a thrilling matchup, Tyler Radocha made a pivotal play by blocking a potential game-winning field goal in the closing moments of the fourth quarter, leading to Davion Cherwin’s winning 11-yard touchdown run during overtime. This victory marked a 19-16 win for Drake against Presbyterian, extending their impressive conference win streak to 15 games. The Bulldogs have not suffered a defeat in the Pioneer Football League since October 2022.
Throughout most of the game, the Bulldogs (5-1, 4-0 PFL) found themselves trailing but managed to level the score at 13 with approximately four minutes left in the fourth quarter, thanks to Shane Dunning’s successful 37-yard field goal. Presbyterian seemed on the verge of pulling off a Homecoming upset, advancing to the 2-yard line. However, disaster struck when Radocha blocked a 22-yard field goal attempt by Peter Lipscombe with just 22 seconds left in regulation time.
In the overtime period, Presbyterian received the ball first, and Jett Jackson successfully kicked a 42-yard field goal to grant them a 16-13 advantage. However, the Bulldogs quickly countered on their third possession when Cherwin took a handoff, deftly maneuvered past a defender, and sprinted into the right corner of the end zone to secure the win for Drake.
Drake’s quarterback, Luke Bailey, showcased a remarkable performance, completing 30 passes out of 41 attempts for a total of 375 yards. Additionally, his twin brother, Trey Radocha, made significant contributions to the game, recording nine receptions for 125 yards. On the other side, Collin Hurst delivered a solid effort for Presbyterian (2-6, 0-4), completing 26 of 35 passes for 201 yards. He also threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Nigel Brown that momentarily gave the Blue Hose a 13-10 lead in the second quarter, but they struggled to score again until the overtime period.
