TOWSON, Md. — In an impressive display of talent, Tyler Knoop set a new school record by throwing six touchdown passes as Stony Brook triumphed over Towson with a score of 52-24 on Saturday.

Knoop’s 20-yard touchdown connection with Jasiah Williams bolstered Stony Brook’s commanding 45-17 lead early in the fourth quarter. This noteworthy performance surpassed the previous record for passing touchdowns in a game set by four players, the last being Kyle Essington back in 2012, who had five.

The quarterback completed 34 of his 40 attempts, accumulating a total of 387 passing yards. Williams was a standout player, catching three of Knoop’s touchdown passes and finishing with 92 receiving yards. Jayce Freeman also made a significant impact with 91 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, Roland Dempster contributed significantly to the Seawolves’ offense, rushing for 103 yards on 15 attempts. Stony Brook now holds a record of 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Coastal Athletic Association.

Knoop’s dynamic connection with Freeman was highlighted by a 21-yard touchdown pass just before halftime, pushing the score to 28-17. This momentum continued into the third quarter when Knoop found Freeman again for a 22-yard touchdown, further extending the lead.

On the opposing side, Towson’s Tyrell Greene Jr. managed to rush for 115 yards with one touchdown. The Tigers got off to a fast start with Devin Matthews scoring on a remarkable 75-yard run on the very first play from scrimmage. Quarterback Sean Brown threw for 158 yards but faced an interception during the game. Towson’s record now stands at 3-4, with a conference record of 1-2.
