MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — In a thrilling contest on Saturday, Anthony Chiccitt threw for an impressive 351 yards and three touchdowns, while DJ Moyer contributed with a pivotal go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter as Robert Morris triumphed over Long Island University with a score of 45-31.

The Colonials, aiming for their first Northeast Conference title since 2010, improved their league record to 3-0 and their overall record to 4-3. Despite the loss, LIU’s quarterback Ethan Greenwood had a remarkable game, accumulating 369 yards of total offense.

Greenwood connected with Aviyon Smith-Mack for a 69-yard pass that led to a 1-yard touchdown run by Jared Lewis. This score allowed the Sharks to take their first lead of the game at 31-30 early in the fourth quarter. However, Robert Morris quickly responded, reclaiming the lead when Moyer finished off a nine-play, 75-yard drive with a 15-yard touchdown run.

Late in the fourth quarter, Greenwood’s 36-yard pass to Michael Love set Long Island up with a first-and-goal situation at the 10-yard line. Unfortunately for the Sharks, after two unsuccessful quarterback keepers that lost four yards, Greenwood was unable to connect on third and fourth down attempts, giving possession back to Robert Morris with only 2.5 minutes left on the clock.

In the final moments, Chiccitt sealed the game with an 86-yard touchdown pass to Shawn Charles, confirming the Colonials’ victory.

Chiccitt completed 19 of his 25 passing attempts, while Moyer accumulated 88 rushing yards and scored twice. Shawn Charles had a standout performance with 141 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Noah Robinson contributed one touchdown along with 126 receiving yards.

For the Sharks, Greenwood completed 13 of 26 passes for 222 yards and also rushed for 147 yards on 25 carries. Smith-Mack had three receptions for 107 yards, while Love caught seven passes totaling 97 yards.

Chiccitt’s impressive first-half performance included two touchdown passes, alongside Keon Freeman’s defensive play that resulted in a 9-yard fumble return for a touchdown. This allowed Robert Morris to take a 23-10 lead at halftime.

Long Island made a resurgence in the third quarter, featured by a 48-yard touchdown run from Pat Bowen and a 24-yard run from Luca Stanzani. Moyer’s 1-yard touchdown run kept Robert Morris ahead 30-24 as they headed into the final quarter.
