CONWAY, S.C. — In an exciting college football matchup on Saturday, Ben Wooldridge led Louisiana-Lafayette to a 34-24 victory over Coastal Carolina, marking the fourth consecutive win for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
Wooldridge showcased his skills with three touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown, helping his team maintain their winning momentum. Kenneth Almendares contributed significantly by kicking three field goals, making him the all-time leader in Ragin’ Cajuns history with a total of 56. His crucial 38-yard field goal with just five minutes left in the game secured Louisiana’s lead. Shortly after, Wooldridge connected on a remarkable 59-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Carter during an extended scramble, adding to the team’s score.
Wooldridge’s performance was impressive as he completed 27 of 36 passes for a career-high 373 yards. Terrance Carter shined on the receiving end with seven catches for a career-high 149 yards, while running back Bill Davis also had an outstanding game, rushing for 110 yards on 19 carries—his best performance to date.
For Coastal Carolina, which fell to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the Sun Belt Conference, Noah Kim stepped in at quarterback when the team was down 14-0. He played a pivotal role in leading the Chanticleers back into contention, eventually tying the game after Braydon Bennett scored on a 49-yard run from a pitch by Kim with 11 minutes left. Kim wrapped up the game with personal records of 145 passing yards and two touchdown passes, while Bennett also had a standout performance, rushing for a career-high of 132 yards on just 13 carries.
