CINCINNATI — Brendan Sorsby threw for 206 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns as Cincinnati triumphed over Arizona State with a final score of 24-14 on Saturday. The Bearcats clinched 24 consecutive points during the first half, overcoming an early touchdown by the Sun Devils.

After Arizona State opened the game with a 66-yard touchdown drive, Cincinnati quickly regained their footing. The Bearcats’ defense was formidable, forcing three punts from the Sun Devils and halting them on downs twice before the halftime break.

The pivotal moment in the first half occurred when Arizona State led 7-0. Running back Cam Skattebo fumbled deep in his territory, allowing Cincinnati’s defensive end Kameron Wilson to recover the ball at the 23-yard line. Sorsby capitalized on this opportunity, scrambling for a 14-yard touchdown run that tied the game at 7-7.

Sorsby added another rushing touchdown just before halftime, pushing his season total to six. He stretched the ball over the goal line from one yard out, marking a significant lead for Cincinnati at 24-7 right before the break.

Despite Skattebo’s impressive resume, entering the game fifth in the national rankings with 773 rushing yards, he was limited to just 75 yards on 17 carries. His two touchdowns kept Arizona State competitive in the second half, yet missed field goals from Ian Hershey hindered the Sun Devils’ chances of closing the gap to a one-score game.

Looking ahead, Arizona State will be idle until their matchup against Oklahoma State on November 2. Meanwhile, Cincinnati is set to face Colorado next Saturday.
