PARIS — Monaco continues to lead the French league standings after playing to a 0-0 draw against Lille at home on Friday. The match was challenging for Monaco, particularly as they had to finish the last 30 minutes with only ten players on the field.

Monaco has been one of the standout teams in France this season, maintaining an unbeaten streak across all competitions and accumulating 20 points from eight matches. They are currently three points ahead of defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, who are set to clash with Strasbourg on Saturday.

This season, the principality club has recorded six victories and two draws, and their current streak extends to 11 consecutive home games without a loss in the French league—marking their best performance at home since August 2018.

The match against Lille was largely uneventful, with limited scoring threats for either team. In the first half, Jordan Teze had the most promising opportunity for Monaco, but he missed the target after shooting over the crossbar from close range.

Teze’s evening took a turn for the worse when he received a red card for a reckless tackle on Gabriel Gudmundsson an hour into the match. Despite being a man down, Monaco nearly snatched a late winner when Denis Zakaria had a chance in stoppage time, but Lille’s goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier, made a crucial save, deflecting the shot away from the goal after a swift counterattack.

Lille currently holds fourth place in the league with 14 points from eight games.
