MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — De’Von Achane, the running back for the Dolphins, announced on Friday that he has successfully passed through the concussion protocol and is optimistic about participating in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Achane sustained a concussion during the first quarter of Miami’s Week 5 game against New England after experiencing a helmet-to-helmet collision with Jaylinn Hawkins. Since just a few days following the incident, Achane reported that he has not encountered any concussion symptoms.
“I’ve been feeling good, feeling great, feeling back to normal,” Achane shared, expressing his relief and optimism.
During the season, Achane has accumulated 183 rushing yards on 53 attempts, finding the end zone once while also becoming more involved in the passing game, totaling 21 receptions on 23 targets for 186 yards.
As a rookie, he averaged an impressive 7.8 yards per carry in 2023, finishing with 800 yards. The Dolphins are looking at a fully fit running back lineup for the first time since Week 1, with Achane joining rookie Jaylen Wright and veteran Raheem Mostert, who has been sidelined for three games due to a chest injury.
Achane emphasized the advantages of having multiple healthy options in the running back position, stating, “That means a defense can’t just kill one of us because … all of us are healthy now. So any one of us can go in there and make plays and do what’s best for the team.”
