Designers of Princess Diana’s iconic wedding gown resolve conflict regarding dress sketches

The former couple responsible for creating Princess Diana’s iconic wedding dress have reached a resolution in their legal conflict regarding the sale of the dress’s design drawings.

David Emanuel initiated legal proceedings against his ex-wife, Elizabeth Emanuel, in a U.K. court. He accused her of violating his copyright by producing replicas of the collaborative designs, which included those for Princess Diana’s dress. Emanuel alleged that Elizabeth had offered these drawings for auction without his permission.

On Friday, both parties announced that they had come to a friendly agreement regarding the matter, though specific terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.

The wedding gown, designed for Diana’s marriage to the Prince of Wales in 1981, is etched in history as an extraordinary piece of fashion, synonymous with the beloved princess. During that era, extravagant styles were the norm, and Diana captivated audiences as she walked down the aisle of St. Paul’s Cathedral, adorned in layers of lace complemented by a magnificent 25-foot train trailing behind her.
