BENGALURU, India — The first cricket test match between India and New Zealand, scheduled for Wednesday, has seen the toss delayed due to ongoing heavy rainfall in Bengaluru.
Currently leading the World Test Championship standings, India is poised to secure a place in the finals slated for next June at Lord’s should they sweep the series against New Zealand with a 3-0 victory.
Following a successful 2-0 series triumph over Bangladesh, India has its full-strength squad at disposal for this test series.
Meanwhile, New Zealand has been on an extensive tour of the subcontinent, which commenced with an abandoned test match against Afghanistan in Greater Noida, India. This was followed by a disappointing 2-0 series defeat in Sri Lanka.
