NASHVILLE, Tenn.
On Tuesday night, the Seattle Kraken secured a commanding 7-3 win against the Nashville Predators, with notable contributions from Oliver Bjorkstrand, Jaden Schwartz, Jared McCann, and Adam Larsson, each registering a goal and an assist.
Additional scoring came from Brandon Tanev, Ryker Evans, and Jordan Eberle, while Chandler Stephenson contributed two assists. Goaltender Joey Daccord played a crucial role in the victory, making 31 saves throughout the game.
The turning point occurred early in the third period as Seattle pulled ahead with back-to-back goals from Schwartz and Eberle just 1:21 apart, sparking a run of four consecutive goals in the final period.
For the Predators, Michael McCarron, Tommy Novak, and Brady Skjei each found the back of the net, with Juuse Saros stopping 29 shots. However, this loss marked the third straight defeat for Nashville at the start of the season.
Nashville managed to bounce back within the first period when McCarron and Novak scored in a quick 2:13 span, overcoming an earlier two-goal disadvantage.
In terms of takeaways from the game, the Kraken’s win allowed them to achieve a split in their four-game season-opening road trip. They will be returning to Seattle for a homestand consisting of five games. Eberle, who was recently named captain, has recorded three goals in the first four games and was instrumental in the shootout victory against Minnesota on October 12.
On the other hand, the Predators, despite bolstering their roster with high-profile free agents such as Skjei, Steven Stamkos, and Jonathan Marchessault during the offseason, remain winless. They have yet to lead in any of their three games, and the team is struggling to develop the necessary chemistry with the revamped lineup.
A significant moment in the match occurred shortly after Skjei’s goal at the 2:43 mark of the second period when Schwartz and Eberle scored within a minute and a half, shifting the momentum firmly in Seattle’s favor.
Statistically, the Predators have struggled on the power play, going 0-2 in Tuesday’s game and now totaling just one power-play goal in 11 opportunities over their first three matches.
Looking ahead, the Kraken are set to face off against the Philadelphia Flyers at home on Thursday, while the Predators will host the defending Western Conference champions, the Edmonton Oilers, on the same day.
