Vice President Kamala Harris is slated for an interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier on Wednesday, taking place in Pennsylvania. This engagement marks her initial interaction with the network and her first discussion with a news outlet that leans outside her usual ideological base since she secured the Democratic nomination for the presidential race.
Previously, Harris has participated in interviews with organizations such as CNN and the CBS program “60 Minutes,” in addition to more sympathetic platforms like ABC’s “The View” and Howard Stern’s radio broadcast. These recent media appearances have surfaced mainly within the last two weeks, indicating a notable shift in her strategy after maintaining a low profile for media interactions earlier in her campaign.
The discussion with Baier is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday. As Fox News’ leading political anchor, Baier stands out as one of the few prominent figures on the network whose reputation doesn’t strongly align with conservative viewpoints.
In light of critiques regarding her previous hesitance to engage with the press, Harris is now attempting to redirect the spotlight onto Republican candidate Donald Trump. During a rally in Greenville, North Carolina, she took aim at Trump for his failure to disclose his medical history and his refusal to appear for a “60 Minutes” interview.
Harris questioned the rationale behind Trump’s team wanting him to remain under wraps, asking, “One must question: Are they afraid that people will see that he is too weak and unstable to lead America? Is that what’s going on?” Her remarks reflect her intention to challenge the Republican candidate while enhancing her visibility as the campaign approaches its final phases.
