SAINT-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES, France — In a thrilling finale, English golfer Dan Bradbury delivered an impressive performance, scoring a 5-under 66 during the last round to clinch the Open de France by a single stroke on Sunday.
The 25-year-old showcased his talent with four birdies in the back nine, concluding the tournament with an overall score of 16 under, marking his second victory on the European tour. He managed to fend off a strong challenge from Denmark’s Jeff Winther, who soared up the leaderboard with an exceptional 64, featuring seven birdies in his flawless round.
Despite his efforts, Winther was unable to secure a birdie on the final two holes, ultimately finishing tied for second alongside his fellow countryman Thorbjørn Olesen (68), England’s Sam Bairstow (68), and Germany’s Yannik Paul (66) at Le Golf National, located just outside of Paris.
Swedish golfer Jesper Svensson, who had entered the final round with a narrow lead of one stroke over Olesen and Bairstow, faced a significant setback, posting a disappointing 5-over 76 that saw him drop to a share of 27th place.
Svensson’s challenging day included three bogeys and only two birdies on the front nine, compounded by a difficult back nine with two additional bogeys and one double bogey.
Bradbury had started the final round two strokes behind Svensson. His previous European Tour title was secured two years ago at the Joburg Open in South Africa.
In other notable performances, England’s Justin Rose, who recently tied for second at the British Open in July, finished with a score of 69, placing him tied for 13th at 10 under. Additionally, 16-year-old Ukrainian Lev Grinberg, making just his fifth appearance on the European Tour, tied for 37th with a score of 71.
