Chachere records over 400 yards and 6 touchdowns in Portland State’s 42-38 victory against Idaho State

POCATELLO, Idaho — Dante Chachere delivered an impressive performance, contributing to six touchdowns and accumulating over 400 yards of total offense, guiding Portland State to its inaugural win of the season against Idaho State on Saturday night, with a final score of 42-38.

Portland State (1-5, 1-2 Big Sky Conference) clinched the game with Chachere’s 21-yard touchdown pass to Eric Denham, which came with 11:34 remaining on the clock. During Idaho State’s last chance to respond, quarterback Kobe Tracy managed to lead the Bengals to the Portland State 36-yard line, but the drive came to an end with an unsuccessful fourth-and-5 pass attempt with just 29 seconds left in the game.

Chachere’s statistics revealed he completed 12 of his 26 passes for 216 yards, achieving three touchdowns without any interceptions. Additionally, he excelled on the ground with three rushing touchdowns and 202 yards. His remarkable performance accounted for a total of 418 of the Vikings’ 516 offensive yards, making him the first player in program history to record both 200 passing yards and 200 rushing yards in a single game.

For Idaho State (3-4, 1-2), Tracy had a solid outing, completing 25 of 48 pass attempts for 275 yards. Running back Dason Brooks contributed 90 yards on the ground and found the end zone once. Hunter Hays also made his mark with three short touchdown runs. On the receiving end, Christian Fredericksen caught nine passes for 101 yards, while Jeff Weimer contributed with eight receptions for 98 yards.
