Mohammad Yousuf, a former Pakistani cricketer, submitted his resignation as a selector for the Pakistan cricket team citing personal reasons. This decision came shortly after the announcement of Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming test against England set to begin in Multan on October 7. Yousuf was a part of the selection committee alongside Asad Shafiq, Jason Gillespie, and Shan Masood.
In a statement shared on social media, Yousuf expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the team and contribute to its growth and success. The appointment of Yousuf to the selection panel earlier this year did not yield the desired outcomes as Pakistan faced early exits in tournaments like the T20 World Cup with losses against India and the United States, as well as a series loss to Bangladesh.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed Yousuf’s voluntary resignation and acknowledged his contributions to the selection committee. The PCB further stated that Yousuf would shift his focus to other important responsibilities within the board. Despite stepping down as a selector, Yousuf will remain involved with the PCB as a batting coach at the high-performance center where he will share his extensive knowledge and experience to benefit the upcoming talent in Pakistani cricket.
The PCB expressed appreciation for Yousuf’s service and highlighted the significant role he played during his tenure on the selection committee. This transition marks a new chapter for Yousuf within the PCB as he continues to make valuable contributions to the development of cricket in Pakistan.
