Carson Conklin orchestrated two touchdown passes while Elias Mullican grabbed two interceptions, one resulting in a pick-6, propelling Sacramento State to a commanding 34-0 victory over Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday night. The Hornets, ranked 11th in the FCS coaches’ poll, took an early lead with Zach Schreiner’s pair of field goals before Mullican’s 35-yard interception return and Conklin’s 22-yard touchdown pass to Jared Gipson extended the lead to 20-0 by halftime. In the third quarter, Sacramento State added 14 more points through Conklin’s 16-yard TD pass to Elijah Tau-Tolliver and Ezra Moleni’s 1-yard touchdown run to secure the win. Conklin completed 13 of 22 passes for 154 yards, while Tau-Tolliver rushed for 127 yards on 20 carries, and Gipson recorded 85 receiving yards on four catches.
The Hornets’ defense played a crucial role in the shutout, limiting the Lions to just 26 rushing yards, securing six sacks, and forcing four turnovers, including three interceptions. This marked Sacramento State’s first shutout since their 44-0 victory over Northern Arizona in 2021.
