Zach Palmer-Smith had an impressive game, rushing for 203 yards, which included a decisive 59-yard run, leading Richmond to a 38-24 victory over Delaware State on Saturday night. The win improved Richmond’s record to 2-2. Palmer-Smith had a total of 30 carries and even contributed a 61-yard touchdown reception. Richmond’s quarterback, Camden Coleman, had 314 yards passing, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Delaware State, with a record of 2-2, saw a strong performance from Marqui Adams, who completed 13 of 18 passes for 183 yards, two touchdowns, and also ran for 112 yards on 13 carries. In the fourth quarter, Adams connected with Kyree Benton for a 48-yard touchdown, bringing the Hornets within seven points at 31-24, before Palmer-Smith sealed the game with his final touchdown.

Richmond had a setback at the end of the first half when they were intercepted in the end zone, but they swiftly bounced back in the second half. Palmer-Smith scored a 2-yard run, extending their lead to 21-10. Delaware State fought back, with Adams making a 46-yard gain and then throwing a 10-yard pass to Jayden Jenkins, closing the gap to 21-17.

Coleman later found Landon Ellis for a 61-yard scoring play, increasing Richmond’s lead to 28-17. The game showcased a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, with Richmond ultimately emerging victorious.
