Micah Bernard had a standout performance with a career-high 182 rushing yards as No. 12 Utah claimed a 22-19 victory over No. 14 Oklahoma State in their first Big 12 conference game following the move from the Pac-12. Brant Kuithe contributed with two touchdowns and Cole Becker added three field goals for Utah, who now stands 4-0 overall and 1-0 in their conference.
Freshman Isaac Wilson filled in for the injured Utes starter Cam Rising and impressed with 207 passing yards, a touchdown, and 41 rushing yards. On the other side, Oklahoma State’s Alan Bowman struggled in the first half but came back in the fourth quarter, throwing for two touchdowns and two 2-point conversions to narrow Utah’s lead to three points.
Utah’s defense played a significant role by containing Oklahoma State’s star running back Ollie Gordon II to just 42 yards. Despite committing three turnovers in the first half, Utah managed to maintain a 10-3 lead. The Utes’ defense limited the Cowboys to 119 yards and forced eight punts throughout the game.
Looking ahead, Utah will square off against Arizona at home, while Oklahoma State will face Kansas State on the road in their upcoming matchups. Despite the Cowboys’ valiant effort to stage a comeback, they ultimately fell short as Utah successfully held off their late-game push to secure the win.
