Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt was candid in his assessment of Washington’s offense and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels ahead of their upcoming game on Monday night. Taylor-Britt criticized Washington’s offensive approach, describing it as “really simple” and reminiscent of a college offense.
Regarding Taylor-Britt’s comments, Washington’s first-year offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury stated on Friday that he had not been aware of them and noted that everyone is entitled to their opinions.
Despite Daniels completing 75.5% of his passes in his first two NFL games and Washington having the league’s 10th-ranked offense, Taylor-Britt pointed out that Daniels primarily throws short and intermediate routes and quick throws. He also mentioned the challenge of getting the ball to top receiver Terry McLaurin more effectively.
Kingsbury acknowledged the need to improve in involving McLaurin more in the offense, recognizing him as one of the league’s best players who deserves more opportunities. He expressed confidence that the connection between Daniels and McLaurin would develop over time.
Kingsbury praised Daniels’ performance thus far, highlighting his ability to operate the offense efficiently, protect the football, and execute plays effectively even against tough defenses. Daniels, the No. 2 overall pick from LSU and last year’s Heisman Trophy winner, has also showcased his rushing ability with 132 yards and two rushing touchdowns without any turnovers in his first two starts.
Kingsbury commended Daniels for exceeding expectations as a rookie and emphasized the importance of his contributions to the team’s success.
