Tsitsipas secures victory against Kokkinakis to score for Team Europe in Laver Cup

Stefanos Tsitsipas of Team Europe squared things up with Team World at the Laver Cup by defeating Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-1, 6-4 on Friday. Team World had initially taken the lead when Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina overcame Casper Ruud of Norway 6-4, 6-4 in the first match of the indoor hard-court men’s tournament, resembling golf’s Ryder Cup format. Ruud, ranked 9th, struggled with 20 unforced errors compared to just 11 winners.

In the upcoming singles match of the day, Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov was scheduled to face Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo. The doubles match would see Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev playing against Americans Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz. The event will conclude on Sunday, with each match victory on Friday earning one point, two points on Saturday, and three points on Sunday to determine the winner with the first team reaching 13 points emerging victorious.

Earlier on Friday, the Laver Cup and the ATP tour revealed a five-year extension to their current agreement.
