Cleveland Browns rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. has entered a no contest plea in court on Thursday regarding a domestic violence charge. The incident occurred on August 13 when Hall allegedly had a dispute with his fiancee in their shared residence in Avon, Ohio, centered around financial matters which escalated to her accusing him of threatening her with a gun.
Hall, who is 21 years old and was a second-round pick from Ohio State, had the charge lowered to disorderly conduct by the Avon Lake Municipal Court. Consequently, he received a 30-day suspended jail sentence, a $250 fine, and was placed on probation for two years. As a result of the initial charge, Hall is currently on the commissioner’s exempt list and the NFL is evaluating the case to determine potential disciplinary actions.
League spokesman Brian McCarthy stated via email that the NFL is closely following the developments of the case, which is under review of the personal conduct policy. Hall has missed the first two games of the season, and his status remains unchanged as the Browns prepare to face the New York Giants on Sunday.
